Hi how are you all today? I am well. It is still winter where I live and the mornings are supposed to be quite cold this week. This winter has been the coldest for a number of years. I don’t think my feet have been out of socks for a few months except for a couple of days, which is so unusual. What season do you like best?
The word that came up in my heart today is battle weary. I feel at this time that some of us are becoming this way. One week everything seems to be going okay and the next there is lockdowns in part of my country again. Maybe for you, it seems that everything in your life is going okay for once and the next thing is something happens, and you feel knocked down yet again.
We are all becoming a little battle weary. The attacks are seeming to come closer and we can’t get a break. We start to wonder is my life going to continue like this or is breakthrough around the corner.
For this I want to look at David and Solomon and the difference in their lives. David was a warrior and Solomon lived mostly in peace. What was the difference? Let’s have a look.
We first hear of David in 1 Samuel 16 where Samuel anoints him as the next king and Saul employs him to play music to ward off a tormenting spirit. Them chapter 17 comes along and it is the story of David defeating Goliath. Is this David’s first battle? With people , yes but in verse 36, David has battled both bears and lions before. He is a born warrior.
Through his life, even after being crowned king, he didn’t send others out to battle but he led them out himself. His calling was not just king but also warrior. How many of us have been called by God not just to be our profession but to be warriors – not physically but spiritually.
Maybe we are battle weary because we don’t understand our calling from God to fight in the spirit. Why would God call us to do that?
1. Maybe you are the first in your family to be a Christian and you are paving the way for future generations.
2. Maybe there are generational curses over your family that God has called you to break for future generations.
3. Maybe your calling from God is an intercessor and God has called you to fight spiritually for nations that His will and purpose would be done.
4. Maybe God has called you to go higher in Him and the enemy is trying to hinder you.
There are probably many more reasons. But if you look at the above, most of us are fighting battles to get breakthrough for future generations. David did the same. When it was in his heart to build a temple for God, God told him in 1 Chronicles 22: 8 and 9, that he had shed too much blood and couldn’t build the temple. But his son Solomon would be a man of rest and He was commissioned by God to build the temple.
This is the same for some of us. We are the warriors who will breakthrough those things that are holding future generations back from building the house of God. So keep going- the price is too high for us to stop.
Others are not battle weary because they are that future generation and are living in the rest that the prior generation fought for. But it is not time for you to stop either. You are called to build the house of God in whatever calling God has given you.
Today seek God and discover if you are a David or a Solomon. Don’t get weary in doing good . There is a generation’s future at stake.
