Hi how are you today? I am well. March already – I don’t know where the time is going. Maybe it is speeding up. It certainly feels like it. Have you noticed the time seeming to be going faster?
This week I want to talk about staying in your lane. Oftentimes when we imagine what our life could be like or we are reimagining this year what our life looks like following Gods will and purpose, we can sometimes imagine our life like others. We imagine we could have the same life as someone else.
However God did not create robots, He created man and woman in His image. Therefore not only are we fearfully and wonderfully made, we each have our own distinct God given purpose and calling.
The combination of everything that makes up you, is unique to you.
Let’s look at a well known couple of verses in Jeremiah 29:11-13 in the Message Bible. It states:
11 I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out – plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.
12 “When you call on me, when you come and pray to me, I’ll listen.
13 “When you come looking for me, you’ll find me.
Do you see the word in this that is so important- you? God says He has plans for you- plans to give you a purpose and hope. Each of us can read these verses and put our names where “you” is. But these verses are not corporate verses but individual verses. These verses tell us God has a plan for you – a stay in your lane type of plan.
One of the people in the Bible where we can see this clearly is Esther. She was an orphan girl who became Queen. What a plan for her life! The issue was that even though she was queen, her life was not going to be without challenges. The Jewish people came under attack, of which she was one.
But in Esther 4:13-14, we see her stay in her lane plan. It states in the Message Bible:
13 Mordecai sent her this message: “Don’t think that just because you live in the king’s house you’re the one Jew who will get out of this alive.
14 If you persist in staying silent at a time like this, help and deliverance will arrive for the Jews from someplace else; but you and your family will be wiped out. Who knows? Maybe you were made queen for just such a time as this.”
Her stay in her lane plan was that she become Queen to have the power and influence with the king to save her people. It was a plan unique to her and she succeeded.
Let’s look at another verse regarding the prophet Jeremiah in Jeremiah 1:5 in the Message Bible. It states:
5 “Before I shaped you in the womb,
I knew all about you.
Before you saw the light of day,
I had holy plans for you:
A prophet to the nations—
that’s what I had in mind for you
This verse tells us that God had a plan for Jeremiah before he was born. Well guess what? God is no respecter of persons and if He had one for him, He has one for all of us. It is a unique, stay in your lane plan, crafted and formed by God.
So how do we know what this plan is? Easy – give your life to God and then follow Him step by step. Listen to His voice and those unctions or feelings that you get on the inside from the Holy Spirit.
A verse in Proverbs 3:5-6 in the Message Bible sums it up perfectly. It states:
5-12 Trust God from the bottom of your heart;
don’t try to figure out everything on your own.
Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go;
he’s the one who will keep you on track
All we have to is realise that we have an individual, unique, stay in my lane plan that has been formed for each one of us by God. Then trust God, keep close to Him and all will be revealed in due course. A word of warning: before this plan can come to pass, God will work on you and I which may be painful but it will be worth it.
I can’t wait to see what God will do in your life and mine.
Bless you heaps and keep living the life God intended for you.
Karen
