Hi how are you all today? I am well and have had a great weekend. Church was great today listening to some of the testimonies from youth camp last week. God is definitely moving in these last days and is still in the saving, delivering, healing and setting free business. How was church for you today?
In this blog I really feel that God wants to ground us in a truth from Genesis 8:22. In the Message Bible it states:
22 For as long as Earth lasts,
planting and harvest, cold and heat,
Summer and winter, day and night
will never stop.”
On any given day, we look at the world around us and the things happening eg wars, disruptions, confusion and people treating others badly and we feel like our world is out of control. But as a Christian, we need to ground ourselves in the truth of Gods Word and Gods amazing love for us.
Let’s look at the above verse.
It starts off with- for as long as the earth remains. These words are providing surety to us. God is still in control. As long as we wake up tomorrow, God is still with us and the things in this verse following this section will remain.
So what is our surety?
- Planting and harvest will never stop
This means that crops will grow and crops will be harvested. Food supply is still there. But we also know that this verse has a deeper meaning and it is about much more than crops. It is about how we speak, how we treat others, our financial status and our gifts.
If we keep planting and sowing Gods Word in our lives: fruit from that will still come. If we use our gifts, we will reap a harvest from them. If we sow the fruit of the Spirit, they will be multiplied in our lives.
The verse that tells us this is found in 2 Corinthians 9:6 in the Message Bible and states:
6-7 Remember: A stingy planter gets a stingy crop; a lavish planter gets a lavish crop. I want each of you to take plenty of time to think it over, and make up your own mind what you will give. That will protect you against sob stories and arm-twisting. God loves it when the giver delights in the giving.
However the same principle applies if we sow bad things. We will reap bad things. So in these days, plant well.
2. Cold and heat will not stop.
Seasons will come in our lives and seasons will go. Sometimes we get stuck in a cold season where we are down in the depths of a valley but if we keep walking with God and allowing Him to work in our lives, soon we will come back to the mountain top in sunshine.
Psalm 23: 4 in the Message Bible states:
4 Even when the way goes through
Death Valley,
I’m not afraid
when you walk at my side.
Your trusty shepherd’s crook
makes me feel secure.
We don’t have to be afraid, we just have to keep walking.
3. Summer and winter will never stop.
Summer is a time of holidays and refreshing whereas winter can be hard and unyielding. There will be times in our walk with God where it is easy. Gods revelation in the Word comes to us, our prayers get answered and we are feeling joy in our everyday. But then winter comes. This is when we feel God has abandoned us and in the world we currently live in this can feel like our everyday. Winter is necessary for summer as winter causes us to rest in God waiting for those summer seasons of refreshing.
Experiencing summer and winter in the natural keeps us knowing God is in control.
4. Day and night will never stop.
When we wake up in the morning to a new day, God is reminding us that He is there with us. A new day heralds a new beginning. We only really live in today. Yesterday has past and tomorrow is not yet.
Lamentations 3:22 to 24 in the Message Bible states:
22-24 God’s loyal love couldn’t have run out,
his merciful love couldn’t have dried up.
They’re created new every morning.
How great your faithfulness!
I’m sticking with God (I say it over and over).
He’s all I’ve got left.
Gods mercies are new every morning and Gods faithfulness to us is every present.
As we go to bed at night, we can thank God that He has been with us. He gives us sleep and rest and parts of our body work at this time to restore us. Night is a restoration time and God grants us this nightly.
So next time you look around and wonder where God is, think of the above verse and all the ways He is reminding us that He is with us everyday.
Bless you and keep living the life God intended for you.
