Building the walls

February 3, 2020

Hi how are you all? At the moment I am in my house listening to heavy rain on my roof. It is a great sound after the other sounds we have had this summer. Those sounds included sirens from firetrucks, bushfires and the sound of disbelief and despair from the farmers who were in drought. So this sound is a great sound.

Last time we talked about building the foundations and how we need to build a strong foundation. This time we are going to talk about how to build those good walls around our lives. Remember 2020 is the year of restoration. So how do we build those walls and what do we build those walls with.

Psalm 127:1 is a great place to start. It states in the New King James “Unless the Lord builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted”. So who needs to build the walls and then the rest – God. We have seen in our lives what happens when we build the walls. We generally build those walls with fears, insecurities and to keep people out. We demolished those walls a few week ago in a previous blog. This time we need to let God build the walls.

How does He do this? Jeremiah 18: 1 to 5 gives us the best illustration. The story starts off with God telling Jeremiah to go to the potters house and God would speak to him there. There was something in that potters house that Jeremiah needed to see. The potter was at the wheel fashioning a lump of clay into a jar. But it didn’t work out, so the potter started again. In verse 6b, it states that as the clay is in the potters hand, so are you in my hand says God.

God wants to fashion us and make us into something beautiful. To do that, we need to let God build the walls. But we need to provide the material. The material is reading the Word of God (the Bible) and obeying it, praying to God and asking Him to search our hearts and reveal to us those areas that are not right with Him, seek wise counsel and fellowship with others in order to grow and develop. As we implement these materials in our lives and allow God to build with them, our walls will grow stronger. And with strong walls, the enemy can’t penetrate them.

This week allow God to build the walls of your life. Start utilising the materials He has given you so you can build strong walls in your life. You will find yourself growing stronger and stronger against the attacks of the enemy. You can do it. I believe in you.

Have an amazing week and keep living the life God intended for you.

Bless you heaps

Karen
