Have you ever wondered what your life would be like if you lived your life the best way possible for you? By that I mean, all your needs and wants were met, you never needed to see a doctor, dentist etc or go to hospital except to have children and your clothes and home were all how you liked them. You spent your week fulfilling your dreams and working towards your goals. Your family and friends lives were great too! Wouldn’t that be a great life to live?
But you say that seems to be impossible! Maybe when you are orchestrating it! What if I told you you could have the life you always wanted, but you had to have some help achieving it! Why would anyone be interested in me or my life? Easy – you were created to live an abundant life with great purpose. That is why greatness is on the inside of you but it has to be worked to the outside. How do we achieve that? By doing the following things:
1. Believing in God
You say I knew you were going to say that but sometimes I just can’t. Before you trust someone, you must know 100% that they are going to be there for you through everything and that their word will never fail. The only one that can do this is God through Jesus, His Son. He will never let you down. Jesus has already died to give you the abundant life you want – you just have to believe He has done this.
2. Obeying God
You say if I obey God, I won’t have any fun. Do you want fun or a great life. More often than not what we class as fun leads to a not so fun ending. A great life means you are at your best all the time. You are fulfilling your purpose and your goals. Only by reading and then obeying the Word of God can we get the principles of living a great life inside of us and start showing it on the outside.
A great verse in relation to this is found in Colossians 1: 9 to 10. It says:
We have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of His will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way you live will always honour and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.
This is a great verse. It tells us how to get an abundant life with only good fruit in it and not bad fruit. It is the verse that instructs us quickly and succinctly in how to live a great life. Put this verse somewhere you can see it and remind yourself of it often. It gives us hope that our lives can be great and fruitful and more important that we can know God better. God is not distant and far away so you can’t talk to Him, He is near so you can and get to know Him. What other God can you get to know?
