Hi how are you all today? I am well and have had a good week. Yesterday I was with 26 others authors at a showcase at a Christian bookstore in my home town. It was an amazing day and so humbling. How was your week?
As I was driving home yesterday, storms had been predicted. I don’t like driving in storms as most times the rain is so heavy, you can’t see properly out of the windscreen. Therefore, my vision is impaired. I also can’t see too far in front of of me so my vision is limited.
There is a verse in Proverbs 29:18 and in the Message Bible, it states:
18 If people can’t see what God is doing,
they stumble all over themselves;
But when they attend to what he reveals,
they are most blessed.
Other translation say that where there is no vision, my people perish.
Without vision, there is no clear path or way forward. Without vision, we can’t see what’s up ahead, nor can we see others.
We need to be able to see what God is doing states the above verse. Why is that? If we can’t see what God is doing then we lose hope and confusion comes in. God does not want us confused, that’s the enemy’s tactic.
So let’s look at an example that may assist us. We know from Jeremiah that God has a plan for each of our lives. We read that scripture and get excited wondering what God has planned for us.
We feel God telling us to serve in a part of our church. We are really excited to finally be serving in church. A few months pass and our serving job is losing its appeal. We start to doubt that God ever called us here and wonder if somehow we missed God.
At this stage, we have three options. They are:
- Quit
- Keep serving grudgingly.
- Go to God and talk to Him about it.
Just in case you don’t know which one to pick, it is number 3.
I know in my life that I have served in nearly every aspect of church ministry as a volunteer. Some of those areas did not even fit my natural talents. Still I kept persevering. I knew I had a call of God on my life, I just didn’t know what. I used to look at others and think why do they know their calling or vision from God but I don’t.
What God was doing in me through those times was more important than what I was doing for God. God was creating in me the character to sustain my calling, a deep trust in Him and a wisdom that I didn’t know I would need. My calling is writing, prophecy and pastoral care
That is not what I did for a long time.
We have touched on the second line of the above verse in Proverbs. It states that without knowing what God is doing, we stumble or fall over ourselves. God does not want us walking with Him and through life tripping over. He wants us to keep our eyes on Him and follow Him no matter what happens.
The third line in the verse states that we need to walk in what God reveals to us. God doesn’t reveal things to us when our relationship with Him is non- existent. God reveals things when we trust Him and have a good relationship. It is the same with us revealing our secrets to others. We don’t tell everyone only those who are closest to us. This is the same with God. He needs to trust that we are ready to move forward in our vision with Him.
The last part of the verse states that they are most blessed. We are blessed or empowered to prosper when we know the plan of God for our lives and are walking in it. God wants us to fulfil the plan as much as we want to fulfil it.
So this week if you are still learning the plan for your life, keep seeking God with your whole heart until He reveals it to you.
If you know the plan and are walking in it, keep trusting God, walking with Him and walk in the blessing of God.
Bless you heaps and keep living the life God intended for you.
