Hi how are you all today? I am well and have had mostly a good week. There will always be things in our week that happen. Why? So we remain dependent on God. How was your week?
This week I want to blog on- is this real? If we are honest, most of us spend time on social media and you tube at least once a day. Social media is good for keeping up with friends and family or reading encouragements that come up on our feeds. You tube is good for worship music, Christian messages and wholesome movies and shows.
So what do I mean by is this real? With AI or artificial intelligence on the rise, how do we know what we are listening to or seeing is real or fake?
In Matthew 24 in the Message Bible we read two passages that talk about deception. They are:
4-5Jesus said, “Watch out for doomsday deceivers. Many leaders are going to show up with forged identities, claiming, ‘I am Christ, the Messiah.’ They will deceive a lot of people.
11-12 “In the confusion, lying preachers will come forward and deceive a lot of people. For many others, the overwhelming spread of evil will do them in—nothing left of their love but a mound of ashes.
So what is the meaning of deception? Deception in the Oxford dictionary means the act of deceiving someone. One of the meanings of deceive in the Oxford dictionary is deliberately cause (someone) to believe something that is not true, especially for personal gain.
I believe that AI videos and clips will be created by people claiming to be Christian but they aren’t. The only way we are going to not be deceived is we must know and read the Word of God and must stay in close relationship with God through prayer. These videos will have an element of truth with lies mixed in. Be careful!
If it doesn’t sound right, turn it off and go to the Word of God.
In 2 Timothy 4: 3-5 in the Message Bible, it states:
3-5 You’re going to find that there will be times when people will have no stomach for solid teaching, but will fill up on spiritual junk food—catchy opinions that tickle their fancy. They’ll turn their backs on truth and chase mirages. But you—keep your eye on what you’re doing; accept the hard times along with the good; keep the Message alive; do a thorough job as God’s servant.
In these times we are living in, we also need to be aware of what messages we are hearing from Christian leaders. Are they what we want to hear like God is a God of love which He is, without preaching on repentance for sin. We need the truth of Gods Word in our lives as it is that truth and only that truth that will set us free.
We need to be open and humble to accept all of Gods Word- the hard bits and the easy bits, the bits we understand and those that we don’t.
I just want to leave you with the verses from Ephesians 6 in the Message Bible regarding the armour of God. It is important in these days that these pieces of armour are around our lives for that is our protection from deception.
13-18 Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensableweapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.
The last thing I want to remind you about is don’t be scared- be aware and pray for and encourage each other to stand strong and true to the truth- the Word of God.
I stand with you all and bring you encouragement and blessing.
Have a great week and keep living the life God intended for you.
Bless you
Karen
