Hi how are you all today? I am okay just getting over a cold. Don’t you hate when you get sick and life seems to just stop? The to-do list gets thrown out the door, the things on the calendar get cancelled or postponed but then you look around your home grateful that you already have all you need. You have medicines and food- which is great. You don’t have to go anywhere.
God is with us in everything and I am so grateful.
This week I want to speak prophetically into your life- woman, man, boy , girl- this is your time to shine. Often that phrase can mean we step out of where nobody knows us to become a somebody. But I believe Jesus wants us to move from inaction to action. What do I mean by this?
Too many of us are sitting waiting for God to do something when He has called us to go? The mandate Jesus left us with is found in Matthew 28: 18 – 20 and in the Message Bible states:
18-20 Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge: “God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age.”
Jesus told them to go out and train or disciple everyone you meet. This is an action mandate but will look different for everyone. God gave us all gifts and one day we will need to give account. Just don’t be the one who buried theirs. A warning for us all.
So we need to start using our gifts but how? You can start by asking God to help you take the first step or you could be like others in the Bible who were found in the doing. They were faithful where they were at. Some of those are:
- Joseph- Pharaoh called for him when he was in a prison cell. He was found faithful in the prison by helping others and interpreting dreams. He ended up second in charge in Pharaoh’s palace and saved the Egyptians, his family and others from starvation in a drought.
- Esther- She was found faithful by responding to a call from the king even though she could have ended up in a harem instead of being the queen. Her cousin Mordecai said it best when he told her that God had positioned her in the palace to save the Jews from destruction.
- Ruth- She was in a field picking up the leftover grain just so she could feed her mother in law and herself. She ended up marrying the owner of the farm and is in the lineage of Jesus.
- David- He was a shepherd boy out with the sheep when the prophet called him and anointed him King.
- Peter- He was out in a fishing boat when Jesus called him to follow Him.
My question to all of us is am I in a position where I can be found when it’s my time to shine? We all need to consider this. If not, get up, go and serve somewhere in your local church or community. Volunteers are rare so there will be a place for you. Maybe you need to do what I did and start a blog or a business where the funds are channeled for Gods work? What is your passion?
I want to leave you with the following for encouragement. It is found in Romans 13: 11-14 in the Message Bible:
11-14 But make sure that you don’t get so absorbed and exhausted in taking care of all your day-by-day obligations that you lose track of the time and doze off, oblivious to God. The night is about over, dawn is about to break. Be up and awake to what God is doing! God is putting the finishing touches on the salvation work he began when we first believed. We can’t afford to waste a minute, must not squander these precious daylight hours in frivolity and indulgence, in sleeping around and dissipation, in bickering and grabbing everything in sight. Get out of bed and get dressed! Don’t loiter and linger, waiting until the very last minute. Dress yourselves in Christ, and be up and about!
It is time to be up and about, it is time to shine- God is coming back soon and He needs you- your gifting, your calling and your purpose to help Him accomplish on this earth all that needs to be done.
We can do it together- an army walking in the love, grace and mercy of God marching to see His will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Bless you and keep living the life God intended for you.
Karen
