Hi how are you all today? I am well and have had a good week. It is still cold in my town especially in the mornings. I will be glad for warmer weather. I don’t like wearing coats all the time. How is it in your town?
This week I want to blog on the ways of God. Isaiah 55: 8-9 in the Message Bible states:
I don’t think the way you think.
The way you work isn’t the way I work.”
God’s Decree.
“For as the sky soars high above earth,
so the way I work surpasses the way you work,
and the way I think is beyond the way you think.
Just as rain and snow descend from the skies
and don’t go back until they’ve watered the earth,
Doing their work of making things grow and blossom,
producing seed for farmers and food for the hungry,
So will the words that come out of my mouth
not come back empty-handed.
They’ll do the work I sent them to do,
they’ll complete the assignment I gave them.
These verses clearly tell us that Gods ways are not our ways. In fact, His ways surpass or are higher than our ways. So what is the basis for Gods way? It tells us in these verses- it is the words that come out of His mouth that are sent to do Gods ways which is His assignment.
The words we speak pave the way that we live now and in the future. It is words that actually determine who we are and what we do. However, even though all words have power, it tells us in Proverbs 18:21 in the Message Bible:
21 Words kill, words give life;
they’re either poison or fruit—you choose.
You see if we speak life words, they are Gods type of words but if we speak death words, they are not Gods type of word. This is the reason we must be careful what we speak.
All through the Old Testament, especially in the battles where Israel was following God, we see different strategies or ways being used by God to defeat the enemy.
They include:
1. Walking around a city which resulted in the walls coming down.
2. Sending the worshippers into battle first instead of soldiers and the whole army fled.
3. Another army fled because they heard the sound of a multitude of chariots.
4. Other armies fled because the sunlight on the water caused the water to look like blood
These ways of God and many more are not the strategies we would use to defeat the enemy.
The strategy that God requires we use today to defeat the enemy is seeking God for a promise and then standing on that promise until it comes to pass.
Have you ever thought how crazy some of the things God tells us to do seem?
1. Give God your tithes and offerings and you will live in abundance. How can giving our money away cause us to have more?
2. Love your enemies- what? Doesn’t that make us more of a target?
3. Speak the promise of healing over your life when you are sick. How does that even work? But it does.
4. Plead the blood of Jesus over your family, possessions, yourself etc and you will be protected. What- that sounds weird?
5. Take communion to remember what Jesus did. Can’t we just read the Bible and know what He did?
6. Read the Bible daily and you will be changed and become more like Jesus. How does that even work?
All of these are Gods ways in Gods kingdom that are higher than our ways and they work. How? Because God has put them in place for us to follow is all I know.
The next time God asks you to do something that seems impossible or weird, don’t analyse it- just do it. Remember- the ways of God far surpass our ways and they work.
Bless you and keep living the life God intended for you.
Karen
