This is time

June 6, 2023

Hi how are you today? I am well. This post is late as I went to visit my youngest son for the weekend. He lives around 4 hours drive from us now. It doesn’t sound far but when the busyness of life takes over, it requires planning.

This week I want to look at the words “this is time”. God dropped these words in my spirit as I was driving back on Sunday morning. I had no idea what God was trying to reveal. But now I do.

When we say this is, we are generally talking about a thing. However time is not a thing. The meaning of time in the Oxford dictionary is the indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present, and future regarded as a whole.

It is more of a concept than a thing. But I believe God was talking about the now. We are standing in time. What time? The middle between seed and harvest. The concept of seed, time and harvest spoken about in Genesis is the foundation of not only how we receive from God but how we live our lives.

Seed is the words we speak, the money we sow and the way we spend our time. Harvest, whether good or bad is the finalisation of that seed.

But I believe now that we are standing in time. Harvest is not yet here but is coming soon. So what do we do whilst we are positioned in time.

Time is:

  • where we learn to trust God.
  • where our faith is tested and established.
  • where we learn to love both God and people more.
  • where our expectation of our future lies.
  • where our giftings are developed.
  • where our first love is established.
  • where we learn the ways of God.
  • where our relationship with God is established.
  • And so much more.

So where are our examples in the Bible. There are so many. Let’s mention some of them:

  • Noah spent time in the ark with only his immediate family and animals until Gods judgement was past and a different earth emerged. Noah’s seed was building the ark and his harvest was salvation from wrath and a new covenant with God.
  • Moses spent one third of his life in the back blocks of wilderness. His seed was his leadership ability and his harvest included knowing God face to face and fulfilling his call by leading the Israelites out of Egypt.
  • David spent time in the wilderness being chased by a king. His seed was his military prowess and total trust in God. His harvest was the throne of Israel and having a heart after God.
  • Ruth spent time in the harvest fields of Israel, a foreign nation working as a servant to provide for her mother in law and herself. Her seed was her hard work and hunger for a God she only heard about. Her harvest was a husband, a family, wealth and a mention in the lineage of Jesus.
  • Peter spent three years with Jesus learning His ways and His teachings. His seed was leaving all – his career , his family and his lifestyle. His harvest was the first leader of the church as we know it and the writer of some of the Bible.

So what is our story? Where are we finding ourself in time? Is it in complaining that God is not moving fast, jealousy of others or are we patiently standing waiting for God to reveal our harvest. It is time that when we have done all, we still stand- not run away.

After time, will always come harvest. Let’s be found in a season of expectation. God has so much more in store for us and like those whose stories I told above, your harvest is unbelievable.

Encouraging you all today to keep living the life God intended for you.

Bless you

Karen
