Faithful in little things

November 13, 2020

Hi how are you all this week? I am good and in my country restrictions around COVID are again being lifted. It is sort of going to feel back to normal except for international travel, physical distancing requirements and the endless hand washing.

But through this time, I have found that what has touched people’s lives have been the little things. Have you been doing the little things and thought is there any point? Or have you stopped doing those little things because you feel that either God only likes the big things we do or He only rewards those big things? Have you felt insignificant because you don’t have a platform ministry?

All these things can make us want to give up and live a normal life, whatever that means. But what does the Bible say? In the New Living Translation, Luke 16:10 states:

“If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.

God wants us to be faithful in the little things and then He knows we will be faithful in large things. God wants to trust us to do those little, insignificant things. Why? Because He is testing our motive. Will we do things to be seen by others or will we do things out of a love for God and therefore others.

So what are those little things:

  • Smiling at people. Your smile at someone may be the difference between someone feeling lonely and someone feeling accepted.
  • Praying for others- this can make a huge difference
  • Sending someone a card with a nice message.
  • Sending someone an encouraging text.
  • Giving someone one dollar.
  • Buying someone a coffee.
  • Ringing someone to offer friendship.
  • Having someone over for a sandwich.
  • Holding a crying baby in Church
  • Greeting a new person in Church.
  • Telling the supermarket check out lady, you appreciate what they do

Are you getting the idea? All these things are little but they can mean a lot to someone. Many years ago God instructed me to send a text to someone every Monday. I did it faithfully for months until I felt to stop. I never ever received a reply. It didn’t cost me anything except a few minutes of my time. I found out later that it meant the difference between life and death.

Who can you reach out to this week with a small thing? Pray and ask God to lay someone on your heart. You never know but you could be the answer to someone else’s need. Let me know your testimony from this.

Until next time, have a great week and keep living the life God intended for you.

Bless you heaps

Karen
