Hi how are you all today? Well as we continue with isolation and social distancing, how are you feeling? Are you feeling discouraged or maybe even a little overwhelmed? Maybe you are enjoying this time of relaxation or are so busy juggling all the things within your home, that rest is a word not currently in your vocabulary. I believe God wants us to seek a time of refreshing over our lives.
Let’s look at the word refreshing and what it actually means? Have you ever jumped into a cold pool, lake or river on a hot day and said to yourself that is so nice? Have you ever worked all day in the garden, a factory or gone to the beach and that night had a shower and said that’s nice. This is what refreshing is. It takes us out of one extreme and puts us into the other. It takes us from a hot day to a cold pool. It takes us from dirty to clean. Even the word sounds soothing – refreshing.
In Acts 3:19, it states to repent and be converted that your sins may be blotted out and so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord. Refreshing here is taking us from sin filled to God filled. The word refreshing used in this verse means a recovery of breath, a revival in the Greek. Is this what you currently need – a chance to catch your breath. If it is then time spent in Gods presence will do this.
But I am so busy, how can I achieve this? Let’s spend time with God by:
- Repent of your busyness and let God show you creative ways to get things done
- Repent of your time wasting and those things that easily beset us (Hebrews 12:1) and make yourself a schedule
- Repent of not looking after yourself and start scheduling you time in. God created you and I for a purpose and a plan and He has a great one for our lives. God does not expect us to lives our lives in a frenzy but to be purposeful and wise with our time.
There is a time of refreshing that God wants to give each of us in this time. It will look different for everyone so please don’t compare or take notes on what works for others. Go to God and let Him reveal it to you.
Refreshing also means revival and revival means reawakening in the dictionary. This is a time to seek God, be refreshed and be awakened to what He is doing. Your best days are ahead.
Bless you heaps and keep living the life God intended for you.
