This day

September 22, 2025

Hi how are you all today? I am well. Currently I am sitting on a train on the way home from work. I had a good day. How was your day today?

This week I want to look at the phrase “this day”. In the Oxford dictionary, the phrase “this day” means at the present time as in the past; still. It gives a connotation of whatever is next in the sentence always was, will be today and will continue on. The phrase is not as limiting as today but is actually unlimited in time.

It is actually the same as Who Jesus is. The Bible states in Hebrews 13:8 in the Message Bible which states: For Jesus doesn’t change—yesterday, today, tomorrow, he’s always totally himself. Jesus is always the same and so are the words in the Bible that come after this phrase.

Now that you are curious about the verse, let’s look at one of them. The verse is found in Joshua 24 verse 14 and 15 and states in the NKJV Bible:

14 “Now therefore, fear the Lord, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of [a]the River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord! 15 And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of [b]the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

The part that I want to consider is found in the middle of the passage- choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve.

This cry is ringing out in the spirit realm and requires of all of us- an answer. This is not a one day commitment but a lifetime commitment. In the world we are currently living in, the grey areas are fading to either black or white. The world is crying out for- who are you serving. If we don’t like it we will cancel you. But we can no longer sit on the fence. Our convictions must be strong and they must be sure.

We need to have a certainty around our lives like Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego had in Daniel 3.

Verses 16 to 18 in the Message Bible states:

16-18 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered King Nebuchadnezzar, “Your threat means nothing to us. If you throw us in the fire, the God we serve can rescue us from your roaring furnace and anything else you might cook up, O king. But even if he doesn’t, it wouldn’t make a bit of difference, O king. We still wouldn’t serve your gods or worship the gold statue you set up.”

We have to be that sure about our convictions today. We are about to be tested and will we stand or not.

We need to say with surety- we will serve God and obey Him and even if it costs us, we will stand.

This is not a message that is easy to hear but it is relevant. Search your heart and make sure your “yes” to Jesus is sure and built on a firm foundation. Make sure also that Psalm 91 is in your heart or you know where to find it quickly

This is not a scare message but an urgent one.

We will stand and we will not fall. I believe in you.

Bless you heaps and keep living the life God intended for you.

Karen
