When the battle is fierce

June 8, 2025

Hi how are you all? I am well and have had a great week. I am not sure if I mentioned this in my last blog but I have started recording my most popular blogs on Spotify. You can find them under Living the Life God intended. It is a bit scary but I am being obedient to God.

This week I want to encourage all of us that are going through battles that seem so fierce. I don’t know about you but the start of this year and the first five months have felt like I have been in a relentless battle. Not just one but many battle fronts.

In this year of renewal I am wondering whether the battle is fierce because it is a fight for generations and to break generational curses. Some Christians don’t believe in this but the Bible is clear that God never forgets an injustice and sometimes generations later face the consequences.

Sin always has consequences and it can carry on until someone stands up and takes authority over it.

So before we go further, let’s note that once you have given your heart to Jesus, your sins are forgiven. However there may be areas you struggle with. For some people it is addiction, for others it might be a critical spirit or perfectionism (being perfect in your own strength), whereas for others it might be a particular behaviour pattern.

As children, we learn some things from the environment around us. For example was living together before marriage normal in your family or was addiction to alcohol common in your family. These things can affect us.

So it is important we recognise generational patterns that may be contributing to how we live our lives in a negative way.

So how do we stop them? I believe Ephesians 6: 10 to 18 in the Message Bible has the answers:

God is strong, and he wants you strong. So take everything the Master has set out for you, well-made weapons of the best materials. And put them to use so you will be able to stand up to everything the Devil throws your way. This is no weekend war that we’ll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the Devil and all his angels.

13-18 Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.

In relation to ourselves, we need to stand on the truth of Gods Word. Find a verse pertaining to your situation and declare it every time that thing comes into your mind or into your sight. The wall of that thing will eventually be broken by the consistent hammering of the Word of God.

In relation to praying and interceding for others, we will need to use all of our weapons as stated above in Ephesians 6.

So let’s look at a few keys from these verses:

  1. God is strong
  2. God has provided us weapons to use but we must pick them up and use them.
  3. The battle could be long.
  4. We can’t do it on our own- we need God and others supporting us.
  5. We will still be standing at the end of it.
  6. God Word and prayer are vitally important.
  7. Support others.

No matter how fierce the battle- keep standing and keep fighting because God is with us and the battle is His.

So to end I want to encourage all of us today that we have got this- with God.

Bless you and keep living the life God intended for you.

Karen
