Hi how are you today? Well last week I was back at work and back to lots of work to do. On top of that I had a cold so wasn’t well after my holiday. Have you ever been on holiday and when you went back to work it became a memory and you feel like you aren’t relaxed now at all? That is how I felt- like I hadn’t had a holiday.
This blog I want to look at the way with words. What does that mean exactly? I am not sure but we will find out together as we go through this blog.
The scripture God gave me is found in John 6: 63. In the NKJ Bible, it states:
It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.
In the Message Bible, the same verse states:
63 The Spirit can make life. Sheer muscle and willpower don’t make anything happen. Every word I’ve spoken to you is a Spirit-word, and so it is life-making.
This verse is about words and more importantly the words that Jesus spoke.
Most of us think our words are just sounds that come out of our mouths and that those sounds resemble what we are thinking, feeling or what we want to question.
But words are more than that. They are not insignificant, can never be taken back and not only affect those we are speaking to but ourselves as well. Why are they so powerful?
Because God set their purpose in motion in Genesis 1. God could have used anything to create the world as we know it. He could have used pictures, or mime or drawings or blueprints or music. But He chose to use words and because of that choice, it gave words a greater meaning.
Words are used to create. That is the reason why it is good for us to speak the words in the Bible. The verse we read before stated that those words which come from the Word of God are spirit words. They are not created as a result of the flesh- what we see, hear, smell, taste and feel nor are they created from the soul- what we think or our emotions. They are created from the very Spirit of God and because of that they contain life. The words are living- they have a purpose that can change what is around us and in us.
Proverbs 18:21 in the Message Bible states:
21 Words kill, words give life;
they’re either poison or fruit—you choose.
This verse tells us that words can either kill or bring death when we speak them or give life.
Words can encourage others or pull them down.
Words can heal our bodies or bring sickness.
Words can bring anxiety or peace.
Words can build friendships or tear friendships down.
Words can reward or punish.
Words are powerful.
So what is the way of words? Everything that we need to live an abundant life can be found in what we speak and what we allow others to say about us.
This week let’s look at our way with words, align them with Gods and see our lives change. You can do it.
Bless you and keep living the life God intended for you.
