Stand, hold and see

December 4, 2020

Hi how are you this week? I am well. It is now summer in my country and we are in the middle of a heatwave at the moment. It is hot. For those in America, it was 88 degrees F today with high humidity and it is expected to climb over the next few days.

How is your Christmas preparation going? Mine is going well.

Last week I was listening to the story of King Hezekiah on an audio Bible. The story is found in 2 Chronicles 20 and is the one where a massive army was coming against Judah. In the natural, it was overwhelming and a little bit frightening. So what did King Hezekiah and all Judah do? They came together to seek God for the answers.

Do you have a massive problem that you are seeking to solve? Don’t solve it in your own strength but seek God and ask for His wisdom as James 1 tells us to.

So in King Hezekiah’s case, what did God tell them to do? The answer is found in verse 16 and 17. The answer was go down against them but you will not need to fight because I, God will fight the battle for you. What was the role of the army? Position themselves or stand, stand still or hold your position and see the salvation of God.

This is what I want to bring out in this blog. How do we act when we are in the midst of a battle and God has given us a promise. The same way as King Hezekiah and his army did. Let’s look at the steps:

1. Stand or position yourself.

Ephesians 6 is our battle chapter. In verse 13, it states that we need to take up the whole armour of God. Make sure that you are operating with all your armour on- the shield of faith, peace, salvation- right standing with God, righteousness and the promise from God. This is how you stand. But when you have done all, verse 13 tells us to keep standing. But there is another stage before we see the answer.

2. Hold onto the promise of God or stand still.

This means that we need to hold tightly to the promise of God. Don’t be believing it one day and not believing it the next. We need to continue to believe even when the circumstances around us are screaming the opposite. James 1:6 and 7 tell me that if I let doubts in, I won’t receive the promise from God at all. This is a sobering thought. Too many of us, including me, give up on the promise too early. Hold it tightly.

3. See the salvation of God.

Salvation means more than giving our hearts to Jesus. It means soteria. It means deliverance, prosperity, rescue, soundness and happiness. Is there a situation in your life where you need one of the above. Follow steps one and two and deliverance will be yours. But just remember it may not be instant but as you keep standing and holding, you will see.

Let me know your testimonies in relation to the above. I would love to hear them.

Have a great week, standing, holding and seeing and keep living the life God intended for you.

Bless you heaps

Karen
