Look up

August 8, 2021

Hi how are you all today? I am well. Today is a good day not only because I heard an awesome message from our senior Pastor but this afternoon we have come out of yet another lockdown. Are you still having lockdowns in your country? How are you feeling about them? When I hear that we are going into lockdown, the first thing I think about is have I got enough supplies, oh no I can’t see my mum and are my kids okay? What do you think of?

In this blog I feel God is wanting to refocus our seeing. My question is what are you seeing? Are you looking around and seeing the chaos around you? Are you looking down because looking around is becoming hard? Are you looking inward and focussing on self? What are we all looking at?

I feel in my heart that we have lost our vision and who we are and because of that, some are becoming discouraged and fearful. I want to refocus our vision upwards.

In Luke 21 from verse 7, Jesus is talking about the end times. Now I don’t know about you but it feels more and more like we are living in these times. Verse 26 says that men’s hearts are failing them from fear and the expectation of those things coming on earth. That sounds a lot like today. In verse 28, however, Jesus said look up, lift your heads because your redemption draws near.

None of what is happening today has caught God by surprise . But God does not want us to look around and be fearful but to look up and be expectant. Christians have been given the gift of eternal life which is a magnificent gift. We get to spend eternity with Jesus. So why are we being temporal in our focus and not eternal.

In 1 Thessalonians 4:13, it talks about the coming of Jesus. In verse 18, it states comfort one another with these words. Today I want to comfort you in the fact that Jesus is returning soon for you and I. If you don’t know Jesus as your Lord and Saviour , pray the prayer under “do you know Jesus” then you will join us. It is as easy as that.

I just want to leave you with a few more “ look ups”. In Genesis 15, Abram was complaining that God had given him no off spring. What did God do? He took him outside and said look toward the heavens- look up. Abram was looking around so God had to shift his focus to look up. Once he did that, he could see the number of offspring he would have would be multitudes as that was how many stars he could see.

In Exodus 14, Moses and the Israelites had an obstacle in front, the Red Sea and an enemy behind- the Egyptians. But in verse 13, Moses said don’t fear, stand still and see the salvation of God. Another translation says look up and see the salvation of God. They were looking in front and behind but it was time to look up,

So this week, let’s change our focus. Let’s look up and see what God is doing. Let’s look up and see what God wants us to do. If we are looking up, we can’t see down or around. Keep your focus on God- He will never let you down.

Have a great week and keep living the life God intended for you.

Bless you heaps

Karen
