The great revealer

July 13, 2025

Hi how are you all today? I am well and have just had a good time with my sisters for the last couple of weeks. We did three short road trips which were great. Have you ever done this? Tell me about a time.

This week I want to look at the great revealer. My husband was looking at our kitchen benches this morning as the sun was shining on them. He pointed out things to me on the bench that weren’t seen the night before under a fluorescent light. It was only when the sun was shining on them that they could be clearly seen.

Isn’t that the same as Jesus with us? We can hide things but when Jesus shines a light on those things that were hidden, we can start to see more clearly as to what is really there.

This is shown to us in Ephesians 5:13 and in the NIV Bible, it states:

13 But everything exposed by the light becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light.

So who is Jesus that He can do this. John 8:12 in the Message Bible tells us:

12 Jesus once again addressed them: “I am the world’s Light. No one who follows me stumbles around in the darkness. I provide plenty of light to live in.”

Jesus is the light of the world. He is the light that is the great revealer. But now that Jesus has died on the cross, risen from the dead and is now seated in heavenly places, what is now the great revealer? It is the Word of God. That is why it is so important to read it and do what it says. It will also reveal our heart motives and change us from the inside out. Consistently reading the Bible delivered me from my anger problem. I didn’t pray, I just continued reading my Bible until one day I realised it was gone.

Psalm 119:105 in the Message Bible states:

112 By your words I can see where I’m going;
they throw a beam of light on my dark path.
I’ve committed myself and I’ll never turn back
from living by your righteous order.

It is only by the Word of God which is Jesus Who is the light that we can see where we are going. The light reveals the pathway forward. If we follow Jesus, we won’t stumble but will always know the right way to go.

Hebrews 4:12-13 in the Message Bible states:

12-13 God means what he says. What he says goes. His powerful Word is sharp as a surgeon’s scalpel, cutting through everything, whether doubt or defense, laying us open to listen and obey. Nothing and no one can resist God’s Word. We can’t get away from it—no matter what.

Gods Word which is the Bible and the light reveals what is on the inside of us. Sometimes we allow God into one area of our life but keep the rest hidden from Him.

Who knows that you can’t hide from your creator? If I make a cake I am familiar with how I made the cake and what ingredients I used. I know how much I stirred the batter, when I put it in the cake pan and the temperature needed to cook it. The cake can’t hide anything from me. The same with God. He is our creator- we cannot hide from Him.

So what does the light reveal? The things in our hearts that have been hidden by us because we don’t want them seen. But to walk in healing and wholeness we must allow the light to reveal these things- to be our great revealer.

So this week, spend some time with God asking Him to reveal at least one thing that you have hidden. Once you have dealt with that one (with Gods help), work on the next one until only the light of God is flooding your heart. You will feel so free. You can do it. I believe in you and so does God.

Until next week, bless you heaps and keep living the life God intended for you.
