Hi how are you today? I am tired actually and feel conferenced out. Last week I was involved in two conferences. One went for 2 days and one night and the other went for two days. My husband and I served at our international church conference and then I went to a writers conference. I learnt much and now have to glean my learnings to see what God wants me to put into practice. How was your week? Do you have a favourite conference you go too?
This week I want to look at Psalm 25:4-5 in the Passion Bible. It states:
4] Direct me, YAHWEH, throughout my journey so I can experience your plans for my life. Reveal the life-paths that are pleasing to you. [5] Escort me into your truth; take me by the hand and teach me. For you are the God of my salvation; I have wrapped my heart into yours all day long!
I really like how these verses start- direct me God. If our first thought regarding the direction of our lives and even our steps is not God, then we must do life in our own strength. I don’t know about you but I am not equipped to direct my life in the chaotic world we live in today. I would much rather be directed by someone who knows the future- God.
The only way we will experience Gods plans for our lives is if He directs us. Jeremiah 29:10- 11 assures us of the plans God has for us and it states in the Message Bible:
10-11 This is God’s Word on the subject: “As soon as Babylon’s seventy years are up and not a day before, I’ll show up and take care of you as I promised and bring you back home. I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.
God is no respecter of persons so if it is a promise for the Israelites, it is a promise for us. God has our lives planned out for us the way He knows they should go. Sometimes we don’t follow Gods plans and we can walk wrong paths. God doesn’t plan wrong paths – He only plans right paths.
God is always thinking ahead and giving us a future. He knows that hope for better will always spur us on. Live life with God.
This should be our constant prayer- reveal the path that is pleasing to you God. The verses in Psalm 37: 23-24 remind us of this and in the Message Bible, it states:
23-24 Stalwart walks in step with God;
his path blazed by God, he’s happy.
If he stumbles, he’s not down for long;
God has a grip on his hand.
The stalwart walks in step with God. Who is a stalwart? In the Oxford dictionary, it means a loyal, reliable and hardworking person. This is not a lazy person but one that is diligently following the Lord- learning His ways and following His voice.
In this verse, it goes on to say that the path is blazed by God. If we walk with God, He blazes or directs our path. If we fall, which we inevitably will, God is right there taking us by the hand and helping us up.
The next part of the first verse we looked at is escort me into your truth. Lead me God where truth prevails and is easily found. This truth is only found in the Word of God and is the only thing that has the ability to set us free.
In the world we live in, lies abound and opinions matter. But opinions and lies are not truth because they change as the person changes. But truth is steadfast and constant if it is based on the Word of God.
The last part of that verse is the psalmist has wrapped their hearts in God. Isn’t this such a beautiful picture of the love God has for us and the love He wants us to have for Him. Our lives need to be intertwined with Gods. This will give us confidence to step out and do what God wants and needs us to do.
This week meditate on the parts of this blog that really resonate with you. Apply those teachings to your lives and see how God changes your life for the better.
Bless you and keep living the life God intended for you.
