Christmas- the fulfilment

December 21, 2021

Hi how are you all? I have had a sad week as my mum passed away last Saturday. I am going to be lost without her but the best thing is that sometime in the last few weeks, she gave her heart to Jesus. That gives me so much comfort because I know that she is in my future. I prayed for my mum for years and God kept His promise to me that me and my household will be saved.

That leads me into this weeks story. Mary and Joseph are now bedded down in the barn when all of a sudden, the time came for Jesus to be born. After His birth, He was wrapped in swaddling cloths and laid in a manger.

This was the fulfilment of the promise in Isaiah 9:6 which states in the NKJV – For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

History tells us that the manger was the place where they laid the Passover lambs to keep them warm and free from blemish. They were wrapped in swaddling cloths. Jesus was put in the same place as those Passover lambs that were used for sacrifice as He was going to be the perfect Passover sacrifice many years later.

We have looked at the journey Mary and Joseph took and have wondered the reason. But so many promises were fulfilled on the night He was born.

Our journey through life may take us on strange roads and into unexpected places. But God is manoeuvring us so that the plans for our life and the promises spoken over us would be fulfilled.

If God has given you a promise, don’t worry if the road looks rough and feels windy and uncomfortable. You are still journeying to that place of the fulfilment of your promise.

Just remember Jesus wasn’t born so He could have an amazing life but so that we could. The fulfilment of your promise is somebody else’s answer. The promise is always bigger than just us and what we can see. It is for others and future generations.

So today if your road is tough, don’t worry. God is still with you and all the promises in the Bible will be fulfilled, including the promises He gave you. So don’t lose heart, remember Mary and Joseph and the birth of Jesus and rejoice.

Have a great Christmas and keep living the life God intended for you.

Bless you

Karen
