There is always a good plan

February 9, 2017

God always has a good plan. For those where everything is going good in your lives, you are probably saying “that’s right”. However, for those going through hard or difficult times, you may say ” I know I have to believe that but it’s so hard when I can’t see the evidence.” So how can we encourage ourselves through those hard times and through those good times, keep our thoughts centred on God. It is easy in those good times to temporarily forget God. We don’t want that to happen.

We will look at the good times first. In Deuteronomy 8:11, Moses warned the Israelites that when they came into the land and have plenty that they needed to be careful that they didn’t forget God nor forget to obey His commands. This is the same for us. God always has a good plan for our lives even when we are on the mountain. But if we forget God, then we may go tumbling down the mountain. We have to be consistent in our relationship with God and in our obedience to His Word.

What about if we are struggling with a hard situation? It is hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel when we are in the deep recesses of the tunnel. But this is where faith and trust in God kicks in. God said He will never leave us nor forsake us. The best example of a person in a similar situation was Joseph. His father made him a nice coat which caused his brothers to get jealous. So they threw him down a well and sold him to foreign slave traders. If that wasn’t bad enough, Joseph was then accused of a crime he didn’t commit and thrown into jail.  Through that time Joseph was in jail, we read this amazing scripture in Genesis 39:23b. “The Lord was with him and caused everything he did to succeed.” Hang on wasn’t he in prison. Yes he was and God was with him. Let that sink down into your spirit – God is always with you.

Joseph’s brothers then came to Egypt to buy food and Joseph recognised them. However, Joseph was now second in charge in the country and his every word was obeyed. He could do virtually what he liked. So what happened! Did Joseph take revenge on his brothers or blame them for his prior circumstances. No, because God always has a plan and Joseph recognised this.

He told his brothers in Genesis 45, that God had sent Joseph into the land so that his family would survive. So it was not them that had sent him, but God because God always has a good plan.

You may find yourself today in one of those places. If you are struggling, remember God is still walking with you. He has a good plan for your life, even when you don’t see it. So today , have faith in God and in His Word and keep walking and living the life God intended for you.
