Blessed – that word conjures up meanings of wealth, prosperity, abundance and overflow. Most of the time we associate that word with money. Money, however, is only part of the blessing that we were created for. Think about it, if you were a millionaire but suffering with a terrible disease or had no friends or family or lived in a state of depression, people would see that and say you are not blessed.
In the Bible, Adam and Eve were blessed when they lived in the garden of Eden, prior to the fall. But they had no money. However,they had everything they needed – a great relationship with God, each other, the animals and plenty to eat. But the devil convinced them they lacked something which was knowledge of good and evil, they were tempted and then they fell.
Sad news – not anymore. Jesus came to the earth, lived, died and rose again so we could truly live a blessed life. Happy, prosperous, in good health and having an abundance of everything we need and more than enough to bless those around us. Statistics tell us that man needs water, food, shelter and relationships to survive. But we shouldn’t just want to survive- our goal needs to be to live blessed.
How do we do this? Number one is looking after your spirit which is having a great relationship not religiousship with God. Getting to know God and allowing Him to be part of your life. Reading the Bible, talking to God and hanging out with Christians.
Number two is looking after your soul. Work on the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22 in your life. Each day work on loving a little more, being joyful a little more, being more at peace etc. God says He is changing us from glory to glory- little by little. We can do it!!!
Number three is looking after your physical you. Eating properly, getting enough rest and exercise. Ensuring your finances are in order etc.
If you are starting to feel overwhelmed, don’t be. Just do things like God does them with us- line upon line, precept upon precept, little by little. Everyday you are changing in little ways until one day you will look back and see how far you have come.
This week, start in one area and with God helping you, you can achieve anything. Be brave, be courageous and go!!! Have an amazing week!
