Live to die so can die to live

March 31, 2015

The statement above reflects to me what Easter means. Jesus was born then showed us how to live through caring for people, healing the sick and doing many amazing miracles. But that was not His purpose. His purpose was to be the sacrifice for us – to suffer, then die on the cross as the perfect sacrifice to enable our sins to be forgiven forever. In essence, He lived to die.

I stated in one of my earlier posts that living God’s way is living a life of contrast. We give to receive, we sow to reap, we forgive and then are forgiven, we sow tears but reap in joy, we are a friend to receive a friend etc.  This is the same. Jesus lived to die so that we may die to live, if we choose.

Dying in this sense does not mean physically dying. We die to our way of doing things, our ideas and our way of walking and, once we accept Jesus in our lives by belieiving in our heart and confessing with our mouth that Jesus is Lord, then we are saved (Romans 10:10). We make Jesus the Lord over our lives and die to ourselves.

What does this mean?  It means we live God’s way. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says that we become a new person. We think differently, do differently and want to live differently and that is a good thing. We have had our sins forgiven and are no longer burdened with guilt but we are now free! Free to be who God created us to be. Our lives literally start from that point. We are no longer on a course leading to separation from God but a course that leads to an eternity with God. We no longer live with no or little purpose but we undestand that God has a good plan for our lives and that He wants us to live an abundant life.

The things that have happened in my life and places where I have been, I did not even dream about. My dreams, before God, never allowed me to dream that big. My life is amazing. I am not saying that it is always easy. With God walking with you, you never have to feel alone, never have to feel like there isn’t anyone to help with issues that come up – because He is always there. In essence, I have buried my old life (before God) and am now living my new life (with God).

Remember this Easter, it is not only about chocolate eggs and Easter bunnies. It is about remembering what Jesus did by living to die. This means, if you accept this, you can begin anew and die to your old life and take on an amazing new life and really begin to live. Have a amazing week!!!
