Encouragement time

Hi how are you all? I am well and enjoying this warmer weather. I know each season in the natural has benefits but I prefer warm weather – not too hot and not too cold – just like baby bear in the story of Goldilocks.

This week I have had to deal with some very difficult situations. They have broken my heart as a mum and I have felt really sad. As a mum we like to think that we can solve any situation that comes up in our family. But the truth is, we can’t. No amount of talking or crying can actually make it better. If you find yourself in a difficult place too, maybe you can relate.

So what do we do in these types of situations? We can just sit and wait on God and that sometimes is enough. Another thing we can do is stand and don’t move from the Word that God has already given us. I don’t know about you but for me, a weariness just comes over me that requires a fresh Word from God.

So what do we do? We do like David did in 1 Samuel when he came back to his town and found it had been burned down and all the people kidnapped. He strengthened himself in God.

Sometimes in difficult situations this is what we need to do too. We need to go back to God and get a fresh Word- a Word that is going to wash over us and strengthen us for the time we find ourselves in. That is what happened to me a few days ago.

I didn’t go to God as such but as I was reading a devotional, one of the scriptures spoke right into the situation I found myself in and I want to share it with you today.

It is from Isaiah 43 in the Message Bible and states:

But now, God’s Message,
the God who made you in the first place, Jacob,
the One who got you started, Israel:
“Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you.
I’ve called your name. You’re mine.
When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you.
When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down.
When you’re between a rock and a hard place,
it won’t be a dead end—
Because I am God, your personal God,
The Holy of Israel, your Savior.
I paid a huge price for you:
all of Egypt, with rich Cush and Seba thrown in!
That’s how much you mean to me!
That’s how much I love you!
I’d sell off the whole world to get you back,
trade the creation just for you.

5-7 “So don’t be afraid: I’m with you.
I’ll round up all your scattered children,
pull them in from east and west.
I’ll send orders north and south:
‘Send them back.
Return my sons from distant lands,
my daughters from faraway places.
I want them back, every last one who bears my name,
every man, woman, and child
Whom I created for my glory,
yes, personally formed and made each one.’”

I love how these verses start. God is reminding us that He created us. So if God is our creator then we shouldn’t be afraid because He alone has saved us and will be with us through all circumstances. God will never let us down because He has a vested interest in His creation. We are not just here through some happenstance but have been created by an almighty God.

The next promise is for all of us that have children that have gone away from God. God promises to bring back those scattered children. That gave me so much comfort the other day and I hope it comforts some of you too.

Today I want to encourage you that God is with you in everything. He sees your pain and hurt but has also provided His Word to comfort us in our time of need.

He is our loving Heavenly Father and the only one we worship and adore. Thank you God for all you do for us. I am eternally grateful.

So be encouraged this week to keep living the life God intended for you.

Bless you

Karen
