Same yesterday today and forever

Hi how are you all? I am well. It is good to be back after a weeks holiday. I feel refreshed and ready to go again. Does it feel like that for you after a holiday? The weather here is still winter but we have had unseasonal rain again. The ground is so wet. But the countryside will be nice and green which is good.

This week I want to remind us all of something. That something is that God is the same yesterday, today and forever. Have you really thought about that concept. God set laws and ways of godly living in place thousands of years ago that applied then and still applies today.

Our houses may be different, our careers may be different, our education may be different, the technology we have today is definitely different but God and His ways have remained and will forever remain the same. What is the reason for this?

It is because people in essence have never changed. We might think we are more educated, more advanced and have a better lifestyle and that may be true. But those are physical things. Our soul realm is still the same – the way we think, feel and perceive. Our spirit realm is exactly the same – we still need Jesus. The way that people treat each other is also still the same.

Ecclesiastes is an interesting book. It is actually a book where King Solomon who was the wisest person in the world at that time, and maybe ever is pondering the meaning of life. He starts off the book by talking about the vanity of life and in verse 9 states: “there is nothing new under the sun…. It has already been in ancient times before us.”.

Does this mean everything we see today has been before? Maybe! Roads were sometimes built better in ancient times. There were traces of maths and astronomy in ancient times. Computers didn’t exist like we know now but there was some form of them. Communication going worldwide wasn’t known back then and nor were cars and aeroplanes. But the basic fundamentals of life were.

Family, community, towns, food, drinks, celebrations, homes and businesses have always been a part of life. There is nothing new there.

So what was King Solomon’s conclusion at the end of 11 chapters of sorting out the meaning of life. In verse 13 of chapter 12, it states:

Fear God and keep His commandments. For this is man’s all. For God will bring every work into judgement, including every secret thing, whether good or evil.

So why is God the same yesterday, today and forever? It is because He is the only constant in our lives and the One we will stand before. If He kept changing, we would be on shaky ground about how to behave and what to do.

Gods commands to us are consistent – love God and love others. There is no room for confusion or doubt. When I am struggling I can go to God because He is always there and is always loving and unchanging. He is always full of grace and mercy which is what I need on a daily basis. He is my forgiver and healer. He is with me.

So today if you are struggling with the changing winds of this world, reach out to God – the unchanging and immovable one and anchor yourself to Him. You won’t be disappointed and confused.

Have a great week and keep living the life God intended for you.

Bless you

Karen
