Time to walk in unity

Hi how are you all today? I am well. June for our family is my husbands birthday and our wedding anniversary. So it is a special month for us. Has your family got a special month of the year?

This week I want to touch on unity. Unity in the Oxford Dictionary means the state of being united or joined as a whole. This is what Jesus requires for His Church. He wants the Church joined as a whole worldwide. We can only be effective as much as we are in unity.

Notice the definition of unity does not mean sameness or robotic. We are not meant to be the same as someone else or identical but united. A really good example of united is the general family unit ( not all families are like this). It is made up of dad, mum and children. This was Gods design. Each member of the family looks different and has different giftings but they are in unity because they are united by surname.

There is a verse in the Bible that describes what unity looks like in the Church. It is found in Ephesians 4 verses 4 to 6 in the Message Bible and it states:

4 -6You were all called to travel on the same road and in the same direction, so stay together, both outwardly and inwardly. You have one Master, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who rules over all, works through all, and is present in all. Everything you are and think and do is permeated with Oneness.

These verses tell us that we are in unity if we are travelling on the same road and in the same direction. Nobody is going against the flow. Everybody is travelling together at the same pace. For some, this means slow down and for others it means speed up.

So what does being in unity in the Church worldwide mean. Let’s look at the next part of the verse. The Church of Jesus Christ should believe in one Master (Jesus) , one faith, one baptism and one God and Father of all. There will be differences in what day we go to Church or how we do certain things but Jesus is coming back for a bride that is in unity with these things. We all need to believe that Jesus was the Son of God and that He died for our sins and rose again so we could have the choice of being with Him forever. This is unity and this is oneness.

If the Church wants to be effective in the world today, we must put aside the differences and start concentrating on the things we need to be unified on. The world is looking for the manifestation ( or the showing or revealing) of the sons and daughters of God.

It is time for us to step up and become the army we are meant to be- not a defeated army but a victorious army. Who is going to join me? I hope you all will.

Have a blessed week and keep living the life God intended for you.

Bless you

Karen
