Guarded by faith

Hi how are you all? I am well. I am going through some things in my life at the moment that are ensuring that my trust is totally in God. I can’t carry those things but God can. Isn’t it good to know that Jesus left us a helper, the Holy Spirit to assist us through and remind us of Who God is. I couldn’t do life without God.

I was reading 1 Peter a couple of weeks ago and what really stood out to me was we are guarded by faith in verse 5.

1 Peter 1: 3-5 in the English Standard Version states: 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, 5 who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time

These verses are reminding us of our salvation through Jesus Christ and our inheritance because of the decision that we made. We are being guarded by faith so that we can receive our inheritance of living with God forever.

Can you just see a picture of our faith standing guard? Ready to defeat the enemy. But there is more to this picture because faith is a substance in Hebrews 11:1 which means it has to be seen by us in order to do its work. We know that without faith it is impossible to please God ( Hebrews 11:6). So that means it is very important to have in our Christian lives.

So how do we ensure that faith is guarding us and where does it come from? Romans 10:17 states that it comes from hearing and continually hearing the Word of God.

So, what about the verse in James 2:17 that says faith without works is dead. If we don’t have corresponding works, does that mean our faith doesn’t stand guard. Absolutely but what are those works that we need to do. Is it something in our own strength. No!!!! In John 6:29, Jesus told us what our work from God is and that is to believe in Jesus whom He sent.

How do we live this out? Romans 10: 9 and 10 tells us to believe and then say. Death and life are in the power of the tongue and what we believe and then say either keeps our faith guard up or it falls.

If we believe and speak Gods words then it will stand up strong but if not it will fall and we will give the enemy access into our lives and none of us wants that.

So this week, let’s watch what we say – me included. I am guilty of this a lot. Let’s set ourself a target of one hour a day speak only words that God wants us to speak and then increase it. Pretty soon, we will be talking like Jesus a lot. Wouldn’t that be good?

Have a great week and keep living the life God intended for you.

Bless you

Karen
