Don’t worry

Hi how are you all? I am good. Two posts in one week as the weekend before last, I went to my uncles farm for one night and my best friends place for two nights. It was so good to catch up with them. Do you like catching up with family and friends?

The photo today is of a koala which was on my uncles property. They look cute to cuddle but not in the wild, only supervised in a zoo.

This week I want to look at the words “don’t worry”. In the present world time I think that is all people do- worry. When will the virus stop? Will I get really sick if I get it? How will I pay my bills? Should I get the vaccine? And on it goes. So I think we need to be reminded of what Gods Word says and Who God is. So we are going to look at a few verses in Psalm 37.

Verse 1 gets right to the point. It states “Do not fret because of evildoers, nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.” God is saying to us not to fret and worry over those in the world who are doing evil. So why? There seems to be evil and iniquity everywhere we go.

Verse 3 has the answer. “Trust in the Lord and do good.” It is only when we trust wholeheartedly in the Lord that we continue to live good lives. We are not swayed by the worlds way of doing things or by conforming to the world, but we continue to trust God.

Verse 4 tells us to delight ourself in the Lord and He will give us the desires of our heart. Are you delighting in God or are you being amazed by what’s happening in the world? What has got our attention? By delighting in God, He will provide for us but by delighting in the world means we have to work hard to try and attain our desires. I would much rather delight in the Lord.

Verse 5 tells us to commit our way to the Lord. Are you committed to God or the world? The next part of that verse tells us to trust God. Who or what we commit to is who or what we will trust? I am going to commit to God- what about you?

Verse 7 tells us to rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him. God works all things together for our good. He is for us and not against us. Therefore we can rest in Him and know and be assured that He’s got it.

So what is the antidote for fretting and worrying?

These things:

  • Trusting in God
  • Delighting ourselves in God
  • Committing our way to God
  • Resting in God

If we will do these things, worry will go away and we can get back to doing what God has called us to do knowing that He has everything under control.

Have a great week and keep living the life God intended for you.

Bless you

Karen
