Steps of faith (part 3)

Hi how are you all today? I am great and back in my normal job at the office after days of rain. There was flooding in my country but not in my area. Now it is time to enjoy the sunshine and for everything (except the dams) to dry out a bit. I don’t like wet washing or wet shoes. Do you?

Over the last couple of weeks, we have been looking at the steps of faith. We discovered the first one was to find a promise in the Word of God and believe it. The second step is to see the promise with our spiritual eyes. This time we are going to be looking at the next step.

This step is found in Genesis 15. However we just need to go back and look at the first step for just a minute. In that step God gave Abraham a promise but that promise was all about who Abraham was.

We need to know who we are in Christ and how God sees us before we can move forward. There are many verses on how God sees you – righteous, holy, child of God, beloved, redeemed, apple of His eye etc. Find the verses and get Gods words about you deep in your heart.

Step 3 is all about our specific wants and needs. In Genesis 15:2, Abram asks God for something specific and that is a son – an heir but he bargains with God. Okay God I don’t have a son born from me, but maybe someone in my household could be my heir. In verse 4, God basically says no to Abrams idea and says Abrams heir will be a son from his body.

Sometimes, we ask for things from God and then bargain with Him. God only wants the best for us not second best. However, sometimes best comes after waiting. But God always gives us a promise to stand on. Let’s see what God gave Abram.

In verse 5, God took Abram outside and made him look up. God said count the stars- that’s how many descendants you will have. Every time Abram found it hard to believe, he would look at those stars and remember.

What do we need to go outside and look up in our own lives? Maybe we need to look at the stars to remind ourselves of the majesty of God. Maybe we need to lift our eyes and see the blessings we already have- if God can do it once He can do it again. Maybe we need to look up and see a picture of Jesus on the cross and all He did for us there. Whatever it is for you, maybe you just need to look up. You can’t see the future if you are looking down.

This week spend some time with God getting His answer to your issue. Then look up and see it coming to pass in your life. Walk like you are a child of the King and loved by your creator. We will see things more clearly when we look up.

Have a great week and keep living the life God intended for you.

Bless you

Katen
