Hi How are you? I am great and have one day left of work before I go on a week’s holiday. I really need this holiday as this year has been so busy. It is time for rest to happen. Have you ever felt like that? Where is your favourite place to go?
Last week I was reading the book of the Bible titled Song of Solomon. If you have ever read it, the book is very romantic. It tells the love story of King Solomon and his bride. But it goes deeper than that and talks about the love that God has for us. A love that is so powerful, real and magnificent that most times we can’t grasp the concept of it.
What I want to focus on in this post is the verse in Song of Solomon chapter 1 verse 6. It states in part that the girl had to care for others vineyards and in caring for theirs, she neglected her own.
This verse jumped out at me the other day in my reading and I started to wonder, in this season, how many of us are caring for others and others responsibilities that we are neglecting to care for ourselves and our responsibilities. I really felt the heart of God the other day in relation to this.
God does not want His people running around tending to others and neglecting ourselves. To be effective in ministry, work and home life, we need to ensure we are taking care of our temple. Are we spending time with God, are we eating properly and doing some exercise, have we scheduled in time to ensure our clothes are washed and we are presentable and look like sons and daughters of the King? Or are you spending time caring for others and congratulating yourself on getting four hours of sleep at night?
We can’t function like this long term and God doesn’t expect us too. God has great plans for our life but if we don’t spend time with God, you won’t hear them? God wants to prosper us in every area but if we aren’t following Gods laws of eating healthy, following Gods financial laws or having a Sabbath rest every week, we won’t prosper. God can’t go against His Word to cater for your situation.
This week do a stocktake of your life and make sure you are caring for your vineyard as well as others. This is how to be ready when God calls.
Have an amazing week and keep living the life God intended for you.
Bless you
Karen
