Jesus the Gate

Hi how are you all today? Hope your weekend was good. Mine was great. I went out to lunch with my son so that was good to see him. Then I did a bit of shopping. It is always good to get out of the house and do something different. Have you ever felt that?

I was reading a devotion plan the other day when I came across the following verse from the Message Bible in John10:9 – Jesus leads us to pasture and brings us safely home. This verse really spoke to me especially in the season that we are in.

Some of us have been locked in our homes, only venturing out for essentials and others of us have been working from home for what seems like months now. So sometimes it can be a little scary to venture into the world again knowing that the virus hasn’t been totally eradicated. I know the Bible says that God does not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind but sometimes we can still be a bit apprehensive.

That’s the reason I love the verse in John when I read it. It gives me extra assurance in the fact that Jesus leads us out to pasture (back into society and all that entails) but then He brings us safely home (to our safe place). This is such a comfort to me that no matter where I go, Jesus is with me. Does that comfort you too?

The Bible also says that He will not leave us nor forsake us. This is another verse we can stand on as God is with me all the time. He doesn’t leave me standing by myself and doesn’t run off on me. He is literally holding my hand through it all ( He really lives inside of us).

So today if your life is starting to return to normal and you feel a bit apprehensive, write down the verses above or commit them to memory and remind yourself of them often. That way you can step out confidently knowing God is with you. You can do it!

Have a great week and keep living the life God intended for you.

Bless you heaps

Karen
