God is still working

Hi how was you week? Mine was great and summer is on the way. I love summer – no more jumpers and blankets. Summer to me is freedom. Everything is tied up in the heat, the beach and wearing light clothes. No socks and shoes just sandals. Yeah!

This week I was reading the book of Habakkuk. Before I tell you what verse jumped out at me, I want us to consider the state of the world we live in. Everyday Christians are being persecuted and there is violence wherever we look in terrorism, murder or people hurting one another. Most of the government is in turmoil and don’t know what to do. People are hungry and without food, clothing and shelter. In short, it “looks” like a mess.

Don’t give up just yet because this week I read a verse in Habakkuk that gives me hope. It is in chapter 1, verse 5. It states:

Look among the nations and watch- Be utterly astounded! For I will work a work in your days which you would not believe, though it were told you.

That verse jumped off the page at me – God is still working in the earth today and not only that, He is doing something that I would not believe if it was told me. Wow! God knows what’s going on and nothing has taken Him by surprise.

That’s good news! Even though most of the time, the news people show us the bad, God is still doing good. I love when I receive reports from an overseas country that God is still working in the midst of wars. There is still people being saved and accepting Jesus as their Lord and Saviour in unusual circumstances. There is still people being healed of terrible diseases. The message of hope is going out in many countries and people are responding to it. This is what God is doing that we can’t see. He is expanding His Kingdom all over the world. I feel like shouting Hallelujah.

Don’t be like Elijah in 1 Kings 19 where he tells God He is the only one left. You are not the only one following God. There are millions of people just like you on the earth – loving God, accepting what Jesus did for us on the cross and living our lives in accordance with the Word of God.

Next time you are feeling down, remind yourself that God is still working and most important He hasn’t forgotten you and is doing a work far greater that you and I can imagine.

So, let’s keep our light shining for Jesus and keep living the life God intended for us.

Bless you heaps

Karen
