Facts v truth

Hi how was you week? Mine was good but I had a few bad days. Have you ever had a bad day? You know what you should be thinking and focusing on but somehow the negative takes over. What I need to remind myself on those days is the difference between facts and truth. Truth is always the Word of God. But what are facts?

A fact is the dictionary means a thing that is known or proved to be true. This means that facts can change depending on the day, the circumstances and the people involved. Facts have to be proved but truth is always the same – it doesn’t have to be proved.

Why is this so important to know the difference? Because what I see around me is facts but what the Word of God says is the truth and the truth is always greater than the facts. If the facts say I am sick, the truth will say by Jesus’ stripes I was healed. If the facts say I’m broke or poor, the truth says that I am blessed and prosperous. The facts say that I am a nobody but the truth says I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. The facts says I am weak but the truth says I am strong in Jesus.

Sometimes, the facts make us feel bad and hopeless but the truth in God’s Word always brings hope. The facts for Abraham and Sarah was that they were too old to have a child, but the promise from God is that they would have one and they did – a son Isaac. The facts were that Joseph was accused and thrown in prison. But the truth was the promise from God that one day his family would bow down to him and they did. The facts were that Jesus died on the cross and looked defeated but the truth is that He was raised from the dead and now sits at the right hand of God praying for us.

In times of despair, we need to keep the truth of God’s Word before our eyes. Is it hard when the facts are screaming at you, definitely yes. But we need to reign our thinking in and concentrate on the promise from God.

This week separate the facts from the truth, find your promise in God’s Word and stand on it until it comes to pass. You can do it and your faith and trust in God will get stronger. Have a great week and keep living the life God intended for you. Bless you heaps

Karen
