From underdog to victor

I love a good story where the underdog wins. Maybe it is the team least likely to win a soccer or football game. It could be an unknown tennis player beating one of the more famous ones. It could be a success story in life where a person who was homeless turned their life around and became the head of a successful company. These stories are all good.

But do you know that if you are a Christian, it is your story too. If you are not a Christian yet, it can be your story. Romans 8:37 tells me that we are more than conquerors through Jesus who loved us. We are not only conquerors but we are more than conquerors. How can that be? Because we didn’t fight the battle of sin and separation from God, Jesus did it for us. That makes me and you more than a conqueror.

So what happens when we become a Christian and still feel like the underdog. We have to believe that we are not because of the verse above. However, we will get tested. What part of us will get tested? Our faith! In Revelation 12:11, it says that we overcame Satan by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of our testimony.

We know we overcome by the blood of the Lamb when we accept what Jesus did for us on the cross and become born again. We then have the right to plead the blood of Jesus over us, our families and our stuff for protection each day.

The second part of that verse is we overcame by the word of our testimony. What is that? It is our faith! What is our testimony? Everything that Jesus did for us and died for us to give us. It is our prosperity, health, salvation and deliverance. So our testimony must be based on our faith or in other words our complete trust in God and what He said was mine. How does faith come? By hearing the Word of God. How can I hear the Word of God. By reading the Bible yourself, listening to good teaching and preaching and reading this blog and others like it.

We then need to act like we believe the Bible is true. How do we do that? By doing what it says and saying what it says. Is it hard? Yes – but if we mess up, we just repent, tell God we are sorry and then continue watching what we say and do.

This is the key from going to underdog to victor in your life. Jesus came to give us life and life more abundantly.

So this week, let’s watch what we say, start speaking God’s Word, believe what it says and act on it. You and I are already more than conquerors and we will see it more and more as we practice the Word of God. Bless you heaps and keep living the life God intended for you.
