Our helpers

Think about your daily life and the many helpers you have. What, you say I don’t have any helpers? Yes, you do! If you live in a house, you have the house helping to keep the rain off you, you have the fridge keeping your food cold and you have a washing machine to wash your clothes. Imagine, if you had to sleep outside, try and keep your own food cold and hand wash your clothes in the nearest stream. Some people have to do this and if you are one of them, I applaud you. You are amazing!

Can you imagine then if we had helpers to assist us in our Christian walk when the pastor is not around and our friends or mentors are too busy. Well, you do! Let’s find out who they are.

Firstly, we have Jesus. Not only did He die on the cross for us and rise from the dead so that the power of sin could be broken from our lives, but He sits at the right hand of the Father (God) interceding or praying for us. Let’s imagine for a minute what it might be like. We have had a hard day and taken out our anger on someone by yelling at them. This is wrong as we should have gone to Jesus and He would have taken all of the cares of the day away from us. So we ask Jesus for forgiveness. Jesus then turns to God and says ” I know how hard it is for them down on earth. I died to take away their sins -I have already paid the price. We need to forgive them and blot their sin out as far as the east is from the west”. God says “Okay – You have paid the price, I will forgive them and wipe their slate clean”. Jesus says “thank you” and reminds us in our heart we have been forgiven. Jesus is our first helper.

Our second helper is the Holy Spirit. He came on the day of Pentecost to be our comforter, counsellor and guide. When we don’t know what to pray as our situation is too hard, He helps us to know what to pray. He reminds us of scriptures that we can stand on and thereby trust God as we know the Bible is truth. He is our guide -guiding our steps each day. The Holy Spirit is our second helper.

Our third helper is all those saints that have gone before us. Hebrews 11 tells us that they are encouraging us to keep going and to never quit. They are our cheer squad.

Our fourth helper is the angels. I love what Psalm 103:20 says that they are ministering spirits. They listen to what we are saying and when they hear the Bible come out of our mouths in faith, they are sent to ensure that word comes to pass. We can stop them when we get into unbelief and then we have to start all over again. The angels are here to help you grow your faith in God and see that Word come to pass in our lives. They are our fourth helpers.

So you see, we have lots of helpers, forgiving us, counselling and guiding us, cheering us on and ensuring that the Word of God comes to pass in our lives -that all that God promises us will be fulfilled if we will only trust and believe.

Remember when you are feeling alone, you have these helpers. You are never alone and God has promised never to leave us nor forsake us. So what are you waiting for, claim the promises in God’s Word and keep living the life God intended for you. Bless you heaps!
