Wouldn’t it be good if we had more than enough all the time. More than enough food, more than enough clothes, more than enough time, more than enough intellect – the possibilities of more than enough are endless. But what does enough really mean? In the Oxford Dictionary, it means as much or as many as are required. This seems to indicate that my definition of more than enough is probably different than yours.
So how do we get more than enough? We could work all day but we would become tired. We could steal what we needed but we would end up in jail. We could change our definition of more than enough but we would never be satisfied. It seems like an impossible situation doesn’t it. Only because in the natural world, more than enough is not possible as no matter how much we accumulate, we will never be satisfied.
There is only one way. If we are satisfied in the spiritual realm, we will definitely be more satisfied in the natural realm. Jesus said in John 10:10 that He came to give us a life and a life more abundantly. It also states in the Bible that God gave us richly all things to enjoy. That means there is a possibility we could live our lives this way.
One of the most astounding stories in the Bible in relation to the concept of more than enough is situated in a wilderness. The children of Israel had come out of Egypt and were on their way to the Promised Land. God took them on this journey through the wilderness. The wilderness was hot in the day and cold at night. Further, the chances of finding shops for food and clothing were none. It looked like a hopeless situation. But God – those words conjure up faith and trust within us. God provided a cloud to cover them by day and a fire for the night. He provided fresh manna for them to eat every day. The Bible tells us that neither their clothes nor shoes wore out for forty years. The clothes and shoes literally grew with the people. They had more than enough in the most harshest circumstances. Why? Because they relied on God.
You will never have more than enough if you are continually striving in your own ability. But you will have more than enough if you trust and rely on God and His goodness.
This Christmas count your blessings. Don’t look at what you don’t have. Look at what you do have and be thankful. Trust God to do the rest.
Have a great week and keep living the life God intended for you!
