You are significant – let those words roll around your mind for a minute. Do those words seem difficult to process or maybe you didn’t think about them but dismissed them straight away. This could be due to bad words being spoken over you or you feel left out somehow. Maybe you think you only exist because of a night of passion. But I am here to tell you today that each and every person in the world is significant – even you. Let that sink down inside of you for a moment. So you ask me, how do I know?
First let’s explore the meaning of significant. The meaning of significant in the Oxford Dictionary is to be sufficiently great or important to be worthy of attention. If you don’t think this is you, think again. God created you to be and do something significant with your life.
Let’s look at the being first.
God said He knew you before He even formed you. You are created on purpose. There is no mistake to your life.
God said in John 3:16 that He loved the world (including all of us) so much that He sent Jesus to die for us so that we might have a personal relationship (not religious belief) with Him. If you think nobody else loves you, God does. He created you in His image and in His likeness. Jesus would have died for you if you were the only person on earth. That is how immense and deep His love is for us. But how immense and deep is your love for Him? You are dearly loved.
If you have accepted what Jesus did for you on the cross, you now not only have earthly parents, you have a Heavenly Father who will never leave you. You will never be lonely again.
Let’s now look at the doing.
God said in Jeremiah 29:11 that He has a plan and a purpose for your life. That plan and purpose is unique to you. He gave you different talents, abilities and personality from everyone else. You are unique. You weren’t made in a factory but created by the Almighty God. You and your life are special and unique. Stop trying to be like everyone else. It doesn’t work. If truth be told, they’re probably trying to be like you.
Pray and ask God what He wants you to do. It may seem daunting but do it anyway. What if you just don’t know? Volunteer in different areas of your church and you will soon find out. Are you good with children or do they run away from you? Are you good at music or only make a joyful noise to God? Does serving make you feel good? God will tell you. If you re like me, God lead you on a journey through things before you really discover your purpose.
So do you realise how significant you and your life are now. God wants you to have an abundant life – full of love, peace and prospering in all areas. As you realise this, you will keep living the life God intended for you and being significant in your world.
