In my own life recently, I have been going through what seems to me to be a major strugggle. It appears God is making me deal with this thing that has been tap dancing around my life for a long time. Some days I feel like giving into it and accepting it as my lot in life but God and my absolute faith and trust in Him tells me it is time to rise up and defeat this thing once and for all. If you are going through a similar challenge, I will start my journey with you and share what God has been teaching me.
First I must realise that as a Christian, every battle we face, has a spiritual as well as a physical and mental part to it. However, to obtain my victory (Jesus has already overcome it), I must fight it on a spiritual level the most. Once this is won, the others will bow their knees very quickly. One of the scriptures in Judges that has stood out to me is found in Chapter 3 verse 2. God left enemies in the Israelites land to teach the generations how to warfare. God could have left the Israelites with no enemies to fight and then what would have happened. They wouldn’t have needed God. Why do you need God when you have everything? Easy, we need to thank God for everything but as people we would have forgotten God.
That is the reason God doesn’t move everything bad out of our lives when we gave our lives to Him. Our spirit was reborn but our soul and body need to come into line and that is our part. We must renew our minds to the Word of God. What does that mean? It means we have to train our minds to think like God thinks.
So when we warfare against situations and circumstances coming around us, we don’t fight people, we fight the spiritual forces with the Word of God. How do we do this? We find some teaching about the subject and listen to it. We pray and ask God to show us the root cause of the thing. It may be fear, it may be unhealthy living, it may be that we are not in prayer or the Word enough. God will reveal it to us.
Then we find some scriptures and speak them out until the thing is defeated. This could take days, weeks or months. But the Bible says that when we have done all we can, we must keep standing. As we speak the Word, the power of the thing will be broken bit by bit.
So this week, if you are like me, and are in the midst of a battle, I want to encourage you and me to stand, fight the good fight of faith (standing, speaking and trusting in Gods Word) and don’t give up because God is on your side. No weapon formed against you shall prosper and God still has a great plan for your life. Be blessed!!!!
