On my recent cruise to Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands, I marvelled at the white sandy beaches, the palm trees, the aqua water, the volcanoes and the dense jungle. All of that was great and was viewed from land. But when you are in the middle of the ocean with nothing around you, it is then you really see the magnificence of God’s creation. The way the clouds are hung in the sky, the depths of the ocean and the fact that the water from the ocean evaporates into the skies and comes down as rain on the earth. All of it makes you realise how small and insignificant you really are in the vastness of the skies and oceans. But what is more amazing is God made it for me, and for you too!
In Genesis 1, it states God created the heavens and the earth. He then arranged for the rest of creation, even mankind, to be created in such an order that everything was in place prior to it being required before the next thing was created. By the time God created man, everything was ready for us- our food, our water and our shelter under the canopy. How can you doubt the existence of the creator God.
God then declared that mankind was to have dominion over the creation. Man named the animals, tended the garden and ate of its fruit and seed bearing plants. The animals had the green plants. There were springs of water coming up from below the ground to provide water for all. If that wasn’t enough God created Eve, a helper for Adam. What an amazing God – to create all of that for us.
One of my favourite Psalms is Psalm 19. It states that the heavens declare the glory of God and the skies display His craftsmanship. Day after day they speak and night after night they make God known. How does creation do this? By the awesome display and majesty of God. By the sun showing the glory of God, by the craters of the moon showing the scars of Jesus and by the stars reflecting the moon like the Holy Spirit shows us Jesus.
This week go outside in the day and the night and look up. Reflect on the glory and the majesty of God. Let him reveal to you His greatness and the depth of His love for you which is deeper than the seas. See how important you are to God and how much He wants to know and commune with you. Remember you are created and not evolved and you matter to God. Have a blessed week!
